John D. Rockefeller Jr financed new work at Tarrytown, and seed shipments from the Red Cross target rural families to stave off winter hunger for the unemployed.
A bronze marker will commemorate the 67th anniversary of the Silver Bow creek gold strike. D A R members organize the dedicatory ceremony at 7:30 a.m. near the creek bed between Nissler and Silver Bow. Mrs Lowell Fletcher Hobart arrives as guest of honor.

John J. Lynch a pioneer Arlington Park operator and stockholder disappeared while driving from Lake Geneva Wis to Chicago. Friends report a ransom demand of 250000 but Lynch’s family claims no such calls and expects he is simply away. Chicago gambling figure Marty Gullfoyle allegedly confirmed a ransom call to Lynch’s abductors.
IRON MOUNTAIN Michigan August 23 Ford Motor company workers with families must garden to supply part of winter rations or face job loss. The company will provide land or expert gardening help and start an investigation to identify workers needing instruction. Ford argues self help beats unemployment dole and hopes other firms imitate the plan.
Mrs. George Price of Coronado California, wife of Lieutenant Commander Price, died in San Francisco after a fall from a fourth floor hotel apartment following a navy party. Police noted liquor at the scene and that she appeared to grab a chair in a panic before the incident. She was formerly Daisy Beary of Charleston West Virginia. the couple wed July 7 in Coronado.
The world's largest airplane lay at a dock in Biscayne Bay in Miami, after completing a flight between the four continents of the Atlantic. DO X officials plan to resume the flight to New York on Tuesday. During visiting hours since arrival yesterday, 2,500 people toured the craft. Officers passengers and crew rested ashore after their Saturday flight from Antilla Cuba.
Moscow Aug 23 Tass Agency reported Frau Marga von Etzdorf, German flyer, landed at Irkutsk, Siberia, today, completing a solo flight from Berlin to Tokyo.

Five thousand people crowded highways and a special train carried attendees to the Eagles annual picnic at Glen. The day featured food, boxing, tugs of war, races, baseball, and speeches by Lt Gov Frank E Hazelbaker and Attorney J Bruce Kremer. Officials called it a huge success, possibly the largest Montana Eagles lodge gathering.
The president general of the D A R Mrs Lowell Fletcher Hobart of Cincinnati arrived in Butte and praised Montana chapters for marking pioneer sites. She will dedicate a tablet marking the first gold discovery on Silver Bow creek between Nissler and Silver Bow and attend social events and a mine tour. She is accompanied by Mrs G A Brosseau of Greenwich Conn and noted the D A R has 172 000 members and a wide program.
