Violent thunderstorms hit Montana towns with hail and floods
Heavy thunderstorms with hail and four funnel clouds swept south central and southwestern Montana. Storms dumped over an inch of rain in Belgrade Butte and Livingston, flooded Laurel streets with a foot of water, and caused traffic halts. Billings saw 2.46 inches of rain Friday and Saturday, while an afternoon Bozeman Belgrade event dropped 1.42 inches in about an hour. FAA reported four funnel clouds near Bozeman and another east of Livingston. The Helena Weather Bureau noted conditions.

Former Boulder woman dies at 102 in Helena
Mrs. Josephine Wahle 102, born April 2, 1863 in Oshkosh Wisconsin, died in Helena Sunday. She and her husband Frank Wahle ran a Boulder nursing home after moving there in 1901. He died in 1930. She later lived with daughter Mrs. S R Slosson in East Helena. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Body at Retz Funeral Home. Burial to be in Boulder.

Montanan dies in fire at home
Centerville 33 year old Gary Latham died in a fire at his residence after returning from work Saturday night. Officials said the bedroom was untouched by flames and death resulted from suffocation. Fire crews aided by Malmstrom Base personnel battled the blaze amid water shortages. Latham is survived by his parents a widow and three children living in El Paso Texas.

Marines strike first Mistake fatal for Viet Cong
