A fast moving blaze in Pine Ridge driven by strong winds leveled the town on the Southern Pacific main line 28 miles north of Klamath Falls. The Forest Lumber mill valued near 1 million dollars plus the hotel and about 150 homes were destroyed, leaving six to seven hundred people homeless. Total loss expected well over 2 million with eight rail carloads of logs incinerated. The mill, offices, and equipment of the Forest Lumber Co were wiped out. the operation was owned by a Kansas City firm led by Raymond White.
