Butte Youth and Girl Escape Injury In Train Collision
A Butte youth and an unidentified girl escaped serious harm when their 1951 model car was struck by a Milwaukee freight train near Gregson Hot Springs about 11:15 p.m. Saturday. Driver William Arthur Savage 20 said he did not see the train light as he crossed. Both occupants were taken to Butte by a motorist and reportedly only slightly injured. The car was demolished.

Champions Named at Madison County Fair Ends Today
At the Madison County Fair Jess Armitage swept the field to win the champion of champions cup after taking the grand champion 4-H showman award and the F. L. Niven showmanship trophy. He faced former Niven winners Joe Fouts and Ron Nye in the amateur youth event with Meadow 4-H Club noting the crowd at Twin Bridges High School. Florida Church Picnic Ends In Boat Tragedy
A 16 foot fishing boat carrying 19 people including 18 children from a Florida church picnic swamped off Lake Tarquin. Only 11 year old Jerome Maples survived after a fisherman reached him with a cane pole. The sole adult aboard was 25 year old Joseph Boyle who operated the boat.
