Congolese army riflemen assaulted a Canadian United Nations unit at Leopoldville airport injuring and robbing some personnel. U N Command restored full control of the facility as Lumumba denounced U S diplomats in a tense dispute.
United Nations secretary general Dag Hammarskjold summoned top U N representatives of the Big Four for a joint conference to avert chaos in the Congo. He stressed unanimous action by the four powers as essential to prevent further deterioration of the fragile African republic.
The Silver Bow County 4-H dog show drew a large crowd at the Montana Livestock Auction Co. yards as youths guided dogs through heel on leash and off, sit and come commands. Judges awarded blue ribbons to Beckman and Susie, Dove and Bowser, Lawson and Bitsy, with other color ribbons for additional pairs.

Donald R. Duncan district plant superintendent of Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Co faces a third degree assault charge after a 19 year old operator testified she was shoved and struck during an altercation near 226 West Broadway. A $350 bond was posted by attorney Harold R. Dean for Duncan who must appear Monday at 2 p.m. to enter a plea. Witnesses include Vera Penny Georgia Ann Joan Coyne Bridgy Shea Betty Tippett Teddie Stewart Mame Hannifin Phil Hannifin Ali Boogal Emmett Keyser.
Clarence Hudson a 66 year old Washington janitor was found dead in his apartment with a home made electric chair apparatus. Investigators said a ground wire from a improvised transformer and wall outlet delivered a severe electric shock. Police consider suicide or accident while noting prior electrical shock treatments by a physician.
The dispute between the county board and F S Contracting Co over overweight vehicles on the Butte Meaderville road reached a standstill after two F S drivers were arrested on overweight charges. F S denies wrongdoing, while county officials deny harassment.
Montana officials lifted the traffic toll to 132 as of Thursday adding 19 year old Leon Babb of Carter County to the fatality list. Babb was crushed when a pickup he had just parked rolled onto him near a farm yard 40 miles southeast of Ekalaka in Tie Creek area. The county road accident occurred as he walked between vehicles.
A gas explosion in the Schwa ger coal mine near Coronel 350 miles south of Santiago Chile injured 58 miners. The interior ministry said 39 were seriously hurt in the Thursday incident.
