A man named George Baker pleaded guilty to defrauding Butte housewives of more than $150 in a picture enlargement racket. Police Judge John Seton sentenced him to 60 days in the county jail for the crime.

Salt Lake City August 18 The wool industry which has declined in the United States during the past decade appears to be reviving as shown by the North Salt Lake annual wool sale. J Melvin Jones executive secretary of the National Woolgrowers Association said the high price paid for wool producing rams signals a rebirth of interest in the industry.
Deer Lodge Montana Aug 18 The 1548 Powe county fair revival aims to recapture old community enthusiasm dating back to the Bulte Anaconda circuit. Three days feature thoroughbred racing pari mutuals gaited horse show carnival and dances with a gala stage show Sept 4 and 5. Exhibits span livestock agriculture poultry horticulture home economics needlework floriculture hobbies and 4 H FFA.
The marriage of Ernest Aldrich Simpson, former husband of the Duchess of Windsor, to Mrs Avril Day Leveson Gower was announced in London. The Times noted the ceremony on August 12 and said the couple would reside at 11 Upper Phillimore Gardens after September 10.
Mabel Best wife of Colorado prison warden died Tuesday night after a four month illness. She was affectionately known as Aunt Mabel to many prisoners. She had been in a coma for the last day. The article also notes a separate item about balloons used to sink ships by inflating underwater after attaching to hulls.
Wyoming Democrats select Governor Lester G Hunt in a primary to challenge incumbent Republican Sen E V Robertson for a six year term. Robertson led unopposed in GOP primary, Hunt defeated Carl Johnson by nearly ten to one with incomplete results from 484 precincts. Flannery, Barrett, McGowan, Karnegay also contend in state race outcomes.
Miss Bridget Sullivan an Ireland native who resided in Butte and Anaconda for over 45 years died at a local hospital after a lingering illness. The family home is 418 Pennsylvania. Surviving relatives include two sisters and a sister in law in Butte, several nieces and nephews in Butte Anaconda San Francisco Oakland and cousins in Michigan. The body lies at Dugpan's Merrill mortuary with funeral arrangements to be announced.
