Laos Rebels Free Five Americans and One Filipino

The Pathet Lao released five Americans and one Filipino after more than a year in captivity. Grant Wolfkill described harsh treatment including 200 mile marches with a neck leash and 14 hours in stocks, losing weight. Three Montana prisoners escape from Deer Lodge prison farm

Three inmates from Montana State Prison escaped Friday afternoon while working on the Deer Lodge prison ranch. They reportedly fled on foot after ripping wires from the warden Ed Ellsworth's car, though the prison later said the vehicle detail was a mixup. Road blocks and search parties scoured the hills as an all points bulletin circulated. no injuries were reported. The escapees were Harley Lodahl Billings 28 serving three years for forgery Robert Lerck Kalispell 28 serving three years for burglary and Albert Lamere Great Falls 18 serving five years for carrying a deadly weapon.

Partly cloudy with afternoon showers today through Sunday and cooler temperatures. Highs around 75 to 85, lows 40 to 55, with lingering thundershowers mainly east Saturday. Saturday night cools further with highs near 70 to 80 and lows 35 to 45.

Man Killed, Wife Injured In Brockton Crash

James R. Bowlin 27 of Fairview was killed when his car collided with a runaway trailer carrying a combine two miles west of Brockton on U S Highway 2. Bowlin's wife was hospitalized in serious condition. the trailer swerved into the opposite lane, officials said.

Butte Bar Bandit Nabbed With BB Gun After Robbery Attempt

A would be gunman named Errol E Hutchinson attempted to rob the Ocean Bar at 71 East Park. He fled to Radio Bar on North Main where officers ordered him to drop his weapon. He drew and said go ahead but police held fire upon seeing a gold hammer BB pistol. Hutchinson, on leave from the Army, was jailed at 9 00 p.m. on suspicion of attempted robbery and possession of a concealed weapon. Thelma Stanich described the incident.
