Pacific Veteran Dies in Mishap on Ranch Near Gold Creek
Patrick D. Flemming a Marine sergeant and Silver Star recipient who served from New Georgia in 1943 through the Philippines to Japan died Saturday night when he apparently fell under a mower tractor on the C D Dutton ranch near Gold Creek. Coroner R W Ross said the death was instantaneous about 9:30 to 10 p m. His body was found Sunday morning after he did not check in from the field. Flemming born January 16 1925 was the son of Leo and Irene Flemming long-time Helmville residents now living in Milltown near Missoula. He enlisted at 17 and had a notable war record.
