Gas Main Line Advances Near Butte Project Schedule
Montana Power officials say the 240 mile Cutbank to Butte gas main and 40 mile Butte to region branch lines will be largely completed by early September. Crews across the north end will turn gas into 82 miles of line tomorrow as 4,300 workers press to finish distribution to homes in the next three weeks. Kerr, the company VP, issued the update after returning from inspection.

Texas governor to declare martial law in East Texas oil fields

MISSOULA Aug 15 Fires in the Montana Northern Idaho district were quiet except near Avery Idaho where a moderate wind pushed flames through timber along Midget creek. Firefighters added men and equipment to the Midget creek fire which had reached an 11 mile perimeter since yesterday. A lightning storm started two new fires in Slate creek but control was expected tonight. The Essex fire that once threatened timber in Glacier park was mentioned in the report.

Three boys were injured in a Saturday afternoon crash near Washington and Bilver streets. William Sheehan, 14, suffered severe facial and head injuries with possible brain injury and was semi conscious at St James hospital. Jack Gullivan, 16, had facial and hand lacerations with body bruises. Don Bud McAllister, 16, driver, had facial and hand lacerations.
