Butte School District announces 1975 orientation and changes

Supt Forrest Wilson announced district wide orientation and late registration for new students. Kindergarten registrations aim for August 20 at Webster Garfield and elementary Busing and staff changes noted with a planned 12 to 15 fewer teachers due to enrollment drop. New Margaret Leary School will house Skyway area students with a September dedication.

Woman Robs Butte Delicatessen in Oregon Store Heist

A woman armed with a small gun robbed the Butte Delicatessen in 1960 Oregon. She wore a green short sleeved shirt and black shorts and ordered the clerk to walk down the block. Two other clerks were in the back room. the clerk fled to a nearby home to call police.

Ford denies appointments to three Watergate related figures

A White House spokesman said President Ford is not considering federal appointments for three men who admitted guilt to Watergate related misdemeanors. The remark follows columnist Jack Anderson claiming Ford had mentioned former Attorney General Dell Wyatt as an honorable man who paid for his mistakes.

Thieves grab trapped items and firearms in multiple thefts

Thieves took seven dozen fox traps worth 400 and a Remington Magnum 870 12 gauge valued at 150 from Robert Stephenson. Cathy Driscoll reported a .44 revolver stolen from her home. A saber saw and skill saw were taken from a carbine lot at Thomas and Floral. A white car with blue stripe license 1 1956 had two rear tires stolen from Front and Wyoming. A parking meter at 140 W Park was broken and money stolen. Police say the guns are believed stolen.

Senior Citizens Picnic Set For Tuesday at Stodden Park

The Butte Recreation invites seniors to a 3 p.m. picnic at Stodden Park with bus transportation starting at 2 p.m. from the YMCA Napton Apartments Silver Bow Homes Columbus Plaza and Highland View Manor. Reservations with the Senior Citizen Center accepted by 4 p.m. Monday at 792-4108.

Council opens bids Monday for sprinkler projects at Tech

Butte City Council and Montana Tech plan to open bids Monday at 7:30 for lawn sprinkler installations at Leonard Field and Alumni Stadium and for a building and playground putting green. Bids are due by 5:30. The project aims to improve Tech facilities and increase recreation access for Butte residents.
