In a lengthy Montana search ending at dawn on Mount Hughes, four year old Arnie Olson was found dead, guarded by his shepherd dog after a four day disappearance. More than 500 volunteers plus sheriff's deputies and forest service crews combed the Saphrine mountains, with the boy's grieving parents among the exhausted searchers.

HELENA Aug 14. For the sixth consecutive year the two mill state general fund tax will not be levied for fiscal 1948. Sam Goza, state equalization board chairman, said a surplus remains beyond appropriated needs and ordered no mill levy. A 3 and 14? mills university millage and half mill for the insane hospital bond interest are set. Livestock taxes include one mill on sheep, 14 mills on other livestock for the livestock commission fund, 1% mills on sheep and one mill on other livestock for the bounty fund, and 1% mills on all livestock for the state livestock sanitary board fund.

Man Is Killed Beneath Train in Whitefish Yards

Winds from tropical hurricane threaten Tampico coast
A tropical hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico near latitude 22.1 longitude 95.8, about 130 miles east of Tampico, moved northwest at 8 to 20 mph with winds 100 to 120 mph. It is forecast to reach the Mexican coast north of Tampico Friday morning. Small craft on the Texas coast should stay in port. No US gulf coast danger unless course changes.
