U S Attacks Rail Yards Near China amid Vietnam Campaign

American forces expanded air strikes in North Vietnam with B52 raids on rail yards near Lang Giang and Lang Cai and on a bridge near Hanoi. The operation, aiming at disrupting logistics, left rail facilities unusable and caused several railroad cars to be damaged while ground fighting remained light.

Grizzlies kill two girls in Glacier Park Sunday

In Glacier National Park two 19-year-old girls were killed by grizzly bears while sleeping in their campsite near Granite Chalet and another teen was injured in a separate Trout Lake attack. Roy Cudat, 18, survived. Rangers hunted for the bears as trails were closed.

Butte to Host 47th Montana Kiwanis Convention

The captain and three crew members of the Soviet vessel Svirsk were freed from Chinese captivity in Dairen and the ship departed for Vladivostok. China held the ship’s documents and kept the crew’s whereabouts unknown, while Moscow demanded guarantees of safety for the sailors.
