Glasgow Man Dies in Wreck Near Air Force Base
Dale Hoff man, 25, of Glasgow was killed in a one car crash at 1:30 a m Monday two miles east of Glasgow at the Glasgow Air Force Base and U S 2 intersection. Passengers Ronald Helland and his wife were uninjured. Montana highway death toll reaches 144, down from 170 last year.

Dillon youth tied to Butte jail break escapes
Roy Linton 18 of Dillon was jailed for questioning over the August 9 escape at the Butte jail. He admitted pushing a hacksaw blade through a rear window and pulling up a screen. Linton claimed to have stolen six cars across Montana, and was captured after being found in Lima. Four of the escapees were later reported caught in New Mexico and Wyoming.

Rifle Accident Kills Libby Boy
An 8-year-old Libby boy, Benjamin Goyen, was shot and killed while a neighbor boy was babysitting at the family home. The .32 caliber rifle discharged while the neighbor boy examined it, and Benjamin died at St. John's Lutheran Hospital from head injuries. The incident was witnessed by the victim’s brother Tom Goyen. The boys are sons of Earl and Mrs. Goyen. Officials had not decided on an inquest.

Car Fumes Kill Two Near Park
Two 18 year olds Marcia Larson of St. Anthony Idaho and Timothy Edward Lawson of Phoenix Arizona died of carbon monoxide in a 1958 car two miles west of West Yellowstone. Friends found them at about 11 a.m. with the heater on windows up and engine out of gas. The muffler had fallen off a few days earlier. Lawson worked for a local contractor and Larson for a West Yellowstone motel.
