Memorial Chapel Rising in Montana Ghost Town
A memorial chapel named St Timothy Chapel is being built at Southern Cross near Georgetown Lake to honor Timothy Dillon Bowman. The United Presbyterian Church will host non denominational services with a 100 seat nave and a 100 person fellowship hall. The project involves notable locals from Georgetown Lake Sterling and Anaconda and features native stone, stained glass, carillons and a phoenix created center window. Construction by Eck Construction Co. of Anaconda and design by Norman J. Hamill and Associates aims for completion this fall with dedication in July 1965.

Ancient Coin Machine To Aid Denver Minting Effort
Nevada State Museum will ship its 86 year old coin press to Denver to support minting silver dollars. Curator Clark Guild notes demand is high after Mint Director Eva Adams requested the loan on condition the press works. The six ton press, built in Nevada, operated 1878 to 1893, later moved to Philadelphia and San Francisco before now. Congress authorized 45 million silver dollars for minting, first since 1935.

Traffic Toll Climbs to 143 in Montana
Montana traffic deaths rose to 143 after two more lives were added Saturday. Victims include 19 year old David Lee Butler of Belgrade and 3 year old Robert O Harrison of Lewiston, with 14 month old Victor Wabaunsee killed in a separate crash near Bozeman. Butler died after his jeep left U S Highway 10 and struck a concrete siphon near Bozeman. Butler was a Red Lodge High School 1963 graduate active in FFA events.

Well Known Powell Woman Taken by Death
Lorraine Graeter McCalman, 45, of Deer Lodge, wife of Malcolm MacCalman, longtime attorney, died in a Missoula hospital after living in Argenta and Deer Lodge. Born August 20, 1918 in Anaconda, she graduated from Powell County High School in 1963 and earned art training at Montana State College in 1940, winning a Parsons scholarship and studying in New York City before war altered her plans to study in Paris. She later held roles with House Beautiful Magazine and Cue Magazine.
