Alamosa Colorado Aug 7 investigators said a plot to explode a central oil storage tank and a public service plant bomb was attributed to communists. Timing wires were found disconnected and technicians awaited arrival of more explosives by air to remove charges under the 18000 gallon gasoline tank.
In Montana and Idaho, after national forest fires were subdued, private timber land fire expanded. A Potlatch Timber Protective Association blaze south east of St Maries burned 2500 acres in 1910, leaping toward Marble creek and Grandmother mountain. The Pend Oreille, Cabinet, and Kootenai forests saw limited activity as crews fought multiple fires with wind complicating conditions.
President Hoover announced he has studied unemployment and relief problems for three weeks and will meet next winter's relief need, stating he has conferred with relief and business leaders to promote consensus and coordination of beliefs.

He flies a sturdy wireless seaplane built to withstand normal test conditions.
Col and Mrs Charles A Lindbergh depart Akalvik at 7 30 p m for Point Barrow Alaska on the Orient trip. Weather ahead reported clearing after a two day stop, fog at Point Barrow the only adverse condition, trip expected to take about five hours.
The Farm Board in Washington rejected Germany’s offer to buy part of the surplus cotton, proposing instead a direct sale through the cotton trade. With Hoover’s approval, Germany had suggested purchasing wheat and cotton from board subsidiaries or using liberal credit terms as a pathway to a deal.
A Montana pioneer Charles A Evans recalls nearly being hanged over a red mustache while recounting frontier days in Virginia City.
