The Soviet Union Britain and the United States signed a partial test ban treaty in Moscow ending atmospheric underwater and space testing. Reactions ranged from joy in the Soviet Union and calls for disarmament by India and Italy to cautious approval from France and diverse opinions from ordinary citizens worldwide.
Five soldiers were slightly wounded in a predawn clash with North Korean forces along the South Korea front near the demilitarized zone. U S troops led by Captain Jerry C Scott repelled repeated Red assaults amid old trenches and barbed wire.
Williamette Belle Youpee a 24 year old Sisseton Yankton Sioux from Poplar Montana was chosen Miss Indian America at the All American Indian Days celebration in Sheridan Wyoming She was selected from 25 entrants and attends Montana State College Norma Jean Bearskin Octa Lucy Mitchell and Nancy Marie Eschier earned alternates and runner up positions
The forecast shows fair skies tonight and Wednesday with partly cloudy intervals and isolated thundershowers in the afternoons and evenings. Highs range from the upper 80s to around 90, with lows near 48 to the mid 60s. East of Divide stays fair with clouds and isolated storms. West of Divide remains mostly fair with a few afternoon showers.
In Billings at Valley State Bank, unmasked robber Howard B. Vetter demanded six to seven thousand dollars. Bank president A. E. Ondahl refused, escorted him out, and Patrolman Clen sley nabbed Vetter three blocks away five minutes after the alarm.

David Keeler 20 Hardin died in a three-car head on crash on U S Highway 87 west of Hardin. Raymond Lazotte 27 also of Hardin was injured and taken to a hospital. The crash involved Lynn Griffith of Livingston Al Madill 33 of Billings his wife Myrna 33 and three Madill children all reported in good condition Herman Bottger 74 of Billings in critical condition. Two tolls were removed for deaths on private roads.
In Butte a red fox was shot by police after fleeing under a porch. Lt Bud Moran and Officer Chuck Matule reported the incident labeled Fox Hunt at 3 p.m. near 647 Travonia.

A coroner s jury will examine the gunshot death of attorney George Niewoehner in White Sulphur Springs. Roy Niewoehner, 22, admitted firing the rifle after finding his father assaulting his mother Priscilla. the mother was hospitalized but recovering. The jury will decide if the death was criminal and whether it was justifiable or excusable.
Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas, 64, married Joan Carol Martin, 23, a former State Department official, in Buffalo in a quiet church ceremony. The couple left for a Montana Washington honeymoon after a family reception at the bride’s parents’ home.

Judging of 61 entrants from seven counties Broadwater Meagher Jefferson Madison Gallatin Silver Bow and Big Horn is set for Wednesday and fat stock sale for Thursday.
