Statewide bus inspections mapped for Montana schools
Montana safety officials map the first statewide inspection plan for 560 school buses. Two patrolmen from each district will join Patrol Chief Charles L. Sheridan and Safety Director Glenn M. Schultz to outline mechanical and safety device checks starting August 12. Inspections will be advisory and results shared with the state board of education at its September meeting before classes begin.

Approves Equipment Purchase for Montana Institutions
The Montana state board of examiners on August 5 approved a $2,233 purchase of supplies and equipment for the state institutional hand weaving project. Oklahoma man John Ockmorton, 61, of Hennessey, Oklahoma, was struck on First Avenue in Billings Wednesday night and died about ten minutes later from shock and possible internal injuries. Police report Throckmorton stepped between eastbound cars into the path of driver William Murray, 28, Billings, as the accident occurred during a vacation return trip.

Gasoline tax receipts and refunds for Montana halves
