County budget caps tax hikes at 2 percent forecast

Butte Silver Bow officials aim to limit any property tax increase to 2 percent if a boost is necessary, a stance echoed by Interim Budget Director Karen Hassler. The tentative plan proposes up to 173.1 million dollars in spending with sewer rates rising 3 percent and a 3 percent pay hike for most county workers. Public hearing slated for August 14 with final action possible August 28. budget retroactive to July 1 2024 through June 30 2025.

Former Butte NP admits to 61M fraud

Tristan Ashley Svejkovsky, 40, pleaded guilty in Missoula to prescribing controlled substances with a suspended license and to falsely billing about 61 million dollars for vitamin B-12 injections, earning nearly 600 thousand dollars. The nurse practitioner faces up to 10 years plus fines on the health care fraud charge and up to four years plus fines on using another person’s registration.
