Butte man avoids prison in shotgun case by DOC ruling
A Montana judge sentenced Joshua Michael Ott to the Montana Department of Corrections instead of the Montana State Prison after defense request. Prosecutors argued for 10 years with five suspended. Ott faced up to 20 years for assault with a weapon after firing a sawed off shotgun at a woman, pushing her from a motorcycle, and later incidents.
