Butte Man Slain. Herron Sentenced for Manslaughter
Louis Herron, 55, was sentenced to 10 years in the state prison for manslaughter in the May 10 1970 shooting of James Hoar 50 in an uptown Butte tavern. Herron argued insanity at the time but is deemed sane now after a two day trial.

Heart attack cause of death for Leon Granvold
Leon A. Granvold 35 of 935 California died of a heart attack an autopsy by Coroner Leo Jacobsen released Monday. His body was found Sunday afternoon beside his motorcycle in foothills southeast of Butte. Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Granvold will be Wednesday at St. Joseph Church with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. Rosary will be Tuesday at 7:30 in Duggan Merrill Mortuary. He was born in Butte and educated here an Air Force veteran employed at the Weed Concentrator. Survivors include wife Virginia two sons Leon Jr Joseph two daughters Lisa Joy a brother Ted Granvold and a sister Mrs Joan Hall all of Butte.
