Largest Montana college medical sim shocks UM campus

About 50 health care students from UM programs joined a simulated crisis at the Adams Center on the University of Montana campus. The event, staged by the College of Health, aimed to train for athlete or spectator injuries during sports. The scene mimicked Griz football injuries but was a statewide interprofessional exercise, the largest in the Montana University System.

FWP Nears New Habitat Conservation Leases Under Reworked Program

Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks advances a new round of 30 and 40 year Habitat Conservation Lease program agreements after last year’s changes. Region 7 hosted a public hearing for seven properties totaling 38 800 acres at 4 56 million dollars. Region 6 proposed three properties for 40 year leases totaling 13 157 acres costing 1 58 million dollars. Funding will draw from Habitat Montana, Pittman Robertson Wildlife Restoration, and other partners if possible. Leases forbid surface development and require public access while allowing grazing but no plowing. Chuck Denowh of United Property Owners endorses the HCLP approach. Lease details continue on Page A2.
