Official sources report new and intense fighting between Zolfaghari tribesmen and Azerbaijan troops near Zenjan. Prime Minister Qavam orders troops to stay in garrisons and avoid actions disrupting peace as events unfold. Soviet evacuation continues except in Azerbaijan, where Russia has yet to depart.
Lewis A Penwell a longtime Montana resident and former state internal revenue collector is hospitalized in Helena in serious condition after a two car crash Sunday evening at the Euclid Benton intersection. Penwell 76 was a passenger in a car driven by his wife and may undergo X rays Monday to assess injuries from shock and chest and back pains. The accident occurred as the Penwell vehicle turned from Euclid onto Lyndale. Continued on Page 2 Col 1.

A Pacific Greyhound mainliner bus en route from San Francisco to Portland overturned at Maxwell about 14 miles west of Colusa on Sunday morning. One person died and six were injured including Mrs Lela Hanafin a 30 year old Cedarville resident crushed beneath the bus.

Butte churches filled with joyful Easter services as thousands gathered to celebrate Christ's Resurrection in the first peacetime Easter in five years. Clergy led prayers of thanksgiving for victory, forgiveness, and renewal, followed by social visits from an Easter Bunny family and spring outings amid cool, windy weather.

Chinese Communists charged they were strafed by United States warplanes and had shot down one plane in central Manchuria as Chiang Kai-shek's First army attacked Reds along a 30 mile front. A US HQ spokesman said the only American plane in the area was an unarmed liaison craft seized on the ground. Communist reports claimed attacks at Szepingkal and a downed American crewman, with two planes involved per Thursday reports.
Washington April 21 Secretary of Commerce Henry Wallace assumes chairmanship of a nationwide emergency food collection to aid starving lands. Beginning May 12 every community will mobilize with the goal of gathering food or funds to feed the needy through the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration. The National Grange also pledges support urging members to sell wheat for immediate delivery to save lives amid famine threat to a quarter of humanity.
A Charlotte Heights woman, Mrs John Frost, died of head injuries after a car struck a horse on U S Highway 93 two and a half miles north of Darby. Her husband suffered serious injuries. their 14 year old daughter Mary Ann Buckley endured shock. The Frosts were en route from Charlotte Heights to Darby when the collision occurred.
