Officers Search River for Body Near Billings

Sheriff’s deputies hunted the Yellowstone river east of Billings for the body of Clayton Beverns 65 who vanished Thursday night from a Yellowstone county farm. Boats aided the search as efforts to recover the body continued with the belief it would surface in a few days. Authorities consider Beverns possibly to have died by his own hand.

Nenana Ice Pool winner surprises Alaska crowd

Clara Hansen, a 21 year old Civil Aeronautics Authority stenographer, won 90000 in Alaska’s Nenana ice pool. The ice broke at 3 27 p m yesterday, the earliest in 24 years, and Hansen learned she won hours after ticket lists were completed. She plans to stay in Anchorage for now and return to work until the prize money arrives.

Officials Plan Three Separate Probes Of Wreck

The Lake Shore Limited derailment death toll stands at 30 as three investigations begin. Albany probes will be joint by the Interstate Commerce Commission and the New York State Public Service Commission. Marie Evans 37 native of Anaconda and former Belmont bar operator died from cerebral hemorrhage and bruises after her body was found unconscious in hotel room 101 South Wyoming. Police believe the beating occurred Thursday night or Friday morning. coroner planned an inquest midweek.
