A non-scheduled New York to Los Angeles airliner crashed in fog near Puente Hills east of Los Angeles, killing all 29 aboard. Train Hits Auto Killing Two Montanans in Crossing Crash
In Martinsdale on Friday the Milwaukee Road Olympian struck a car at a crossing, killing Sam Langrey and Gud Matheson, both about 40, who worked at a pulpwood camp 25 miles north. Their wives were injured, with Mrs Matheson in critical condition and Mrs Langrey severely hurt. The train, traveling about 60 mph, wrecked the auto, throwing it 33 feet. This brings Montana highway fatalities to 32 for the year, versus 44 by this date in 1951.
