Slain Pullman Man Triggers Easter Gun Battle
In Pullman Washington Easter Sunday a 31 year old electric store owner George McIntyre slaughtered three police officers and a taxi driver before he himself was killed. Officer Ross Claar died first after McIntyre fired three shots as he approached with a police club. Deputy Sheriff Gilbert Gallagher Sheriff L M Pete Parnell and Ernie Buck were later killed during the posse gunfight. Two bystanders wounded and another man injured by a knife in the same incident. The shooter was found dead in a roadside gully near Gallagher’s body. The day began with a fight at Milky Way dairy where McIntyre and W H Kershaw were involved. Claar had gone to arrest him at a Main street service station.

Escapee from Montana state hospital captured on Timber Butte
An escaped inmate was found atop a Timber Butte peak about 14 miles south of Butte after being at large since Thursday. Lawmen and Butte police pursued him with a light airplane, recovered a rifle from a ranchhand, and finally subdued the six foot two hundred plus pound man with help from Dean O Leary and Don Richter.
