Copper Prices Fall After Industry Merger
Copper prices dropped from 18 to 14 cents a pound as Phelps Dodge Calumet Arizona Mining and Nichols Copper merged into a $350 million group, the world’s third largest copper producer. US 1929 output reached 1,015,000 tons with 1,078,500 tons consumed and 487,156 tons imported, Chilean mines supplying much of that import.

Man Found Dead in Jefferson River Identified as Local Resident
The body of a man found in the Jefferson river near Waterloo is believed to be Joe DeMarch a longtime resident of the Butte area. DeMarch left the Baltimore block in Butte December 12 for the Rose ranch on Fish Creek near Waterloo and disappeared two days later. Police stated the death may be due to foul play or ice impact. the corpse had a crushed skull and was buried in Sheridan with no inquest.

Indians in Fremont county receive $50,000 relief aid
About two thousand Arapahoe and Shoshone Indians on Fremont county reservations in Lander receive $50,000 this week from the Lander Indian agency. The funds come from tribal government money and were approved by a congressional bill to aid Indians after crop and stock losses and severe winter privations. Indians on reservations begin traveling to towns to spend the cash.
