Helena April 12. William Cormier 75 year old Spanish American War veteran from Missoula died Monday morning at Fort Harrison Veterans hospital. He entered the hospital April 1. Cormier served with Montana volunteer rough riders cavalry and belonged to Captain Higgins camp Spanish American War Veterans Missoula. Born Grand Isle Maine Oct 2 1872 he lived in Missoula since 1888. Survivors include widow son Louis Helena daughter Mrs Frank Rieley Missoula grandson William Rieley Missoula and brother Albert C Corntier Keegan Maine.

Anaconda April 12 Deer Lodge Rescue Association drive nears halfway, funds from a Saturday dance cover part of the cost to acquire a Army van type truck and trailer for rescue work. The truck is in town and crews will paint it with Deer Lodge Rescue Association. A VFW auxiliary sale and local hall donation supported the fundraiser. Deer Lodge Montana April 12 Officers of the Deer Lodge Order of Elks were formally installed with Grand Lodge and Anaconda Lodge No 238 officiating. The ritual was led by George Hackett and other grand officers. New posts include Ted Mellinger exalted ruler and W M Hobart ruler among others. The lodge plans renovations and a large class of candidates will be initiated soon. The Powell county fair commission will meet to outline plans for the 1948 fair at city hall.
