BILLINGS AP A coroner's inquest into the fatal shooting of 43 year old Lee R. Robbins will be held late next week Yellowstone County Attorney John L. Adams said after conferring with County Coroner Leonard Larsen by phone Thursday morning.
Threat of a broader stoppage faded Thursday night as night shift underground crews from Butte Miners Union No. 1 returned to work at Mountain Con and Steward mines without incident. About 145 Steward miners lost a shift Thursday morning amid picket activity and a small night crew later.
Helena AP report that the Montana Unemployment Compensation Commission will hold a special meeting next Tuesday to determine eligibility for jobless claims from copper industry workers not recalled to work. A four day decision window was set, while unions complain of missing strike benefits and wages amid a wildcat strike at two Anaconda mines.
In Butte 1,162 Anaconda Copper employees receive pay today marking the first mass payday since the 260 day copper strike began July 21. The strike ended March 30 with ratification of a settlement by Butte Miners Union No. 1 and workers began returning two days after final approval.
A Gallatin County judge in Bozeman will order the Rocky Mountain Phosphate Plant at Garrison to stay shut until he rules on whether owners have cleaned up as promised two years ago. Judge W W Lessley heard four hours of testimony and will issue a fact finding Friday on whether the company fulfilled its 1966 promise or not.
Rep Arnold Olsen introduces House bill to designate the Span ish Forks Primitive Area in the Gallatin National Forest as wilderness. The tract spans about 65 000 acres in Montana.

Vice President Hubert Humphrey told Louisiana AFL-CIO he would run on the Johnson Humphrey record and urged national unity. He urged a moratorium on inflammatory rhetoric and violence and predicted a presidential bid after Easter.
FBI briefly distributed a police teletype seeking Eric Starvo Galt, then withdrew the alert after learning it had been released by mistake. The bulletin described a white man born July 20 1931 five eleven about 175 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair driving a white Mustang with Alabama plates. Local authorities in Miami said the alert came from the FBI and was passed on by the Dade Public Safety Communications Department.
The second ecumenical Holy Week service runs today from 12 to 3 p.m. using the seven last words from the cross for messages and music. Clergymen from several faiths join in the service with 25 minute meditation periods, intermissions allowed for coming and going. Participants include Revs. Thomas Smatla Marion Hixson Edward Heustis Leon Furrh Richard Nelson Joseph O'Donnell Robert Link and many other Protestant church members. Organists are Mrs Bernard Bretherton and Vera Stodden. Dick Bork is head usher.

Secretary of Defense Clark M. Clifford announced that 24,500 reservists have been called up, with 10,000 to be sent to Vietnam in the first reserve mobilization for the war. The move raises the authorized U.S. manpower ceiling in Vietnam to 549,500, according to Clifford.
Dick Smiley a 41 year old Bozeman radio station owner and former two term legislator filed Thursday as Republican nominee for Montana Western district in 1968 seeking the party endorsement in the June 4 primary. He faces Wayne Montgomery the 1962 and 1964 nominee with Senator Arnold Olsen possibly facing Harriet Miller in the GOP primary. Smiley pledged progress oriented programs and to avoid ill conceived plans, promising to work with colleges and universities to shape district needs.
Missoula Marine Lance Cpl. Lionel Russell Crase died of wounds from hostile mortar fire in Quang Tri Province Vietnam. His death raises Montana’s Vietnam War toll to 101, confirmed by his mother Mrs Mary B Crase on Thursday.
Reginald Leary an 18 year old Quebec youth faced deportation after illegally entering the United States and returning after deportation. In federal court Judge Murray gave a one year sentence with deferred execution and probation, plus informal detention until an Immigration Service escort to the Canadian border. Canada wants him back and has use for him with a Navy background and a job awaiting in St John.
