Wolves attack boy at San Diego Zoo
A 15 year old boy was mauled by a pack of wolves in the zoo lair. He suffered a 12 inch scalp wound and other injuries and was treated at Mercy Hospital. Two men used tree branches to rescue him as a schoolteacher witnessed the attack.

Longtime Butte educator Kenneth L. Julson dies at 70
Kenneth L. Julson 70 of 515 N Emmet died Friday in a local hospital. Born September 20 1900 in Esterville Iowa he moved with his family to Pipestone Minnesota and later earned degrees from the University of Minnesota. He taught industrial arts in several Butte schools before leading Hawthorn School as principal for 23 years and retiring in 1968. He was a member of the Butte Elks Carpenters Union and enjoyed square dancing. Survived by wife Loretta daughter in law Walter and Mildred Julson sister in Worthington Minnesota and his mother Martha Julson Sayatovic White's Funeral Home to announce services.

Anaconda Denies Finlen Pit Expansion Plans
The Anaconda Company states no plans to extend Berkeley Pit operations to the Finlen Hotel area by 1991. W M Kirkpatrick notes there is no information supporting such expansion and Mansfield received a cautiously worded reply that the pit is unlikely to reach Finlen within 20 years. Separately, the Finlen’s bar and dining operations shifted to 4Bs, with dining set to resume around April 19.

Death ends trip for better life
A 10 year old Las Vegas boy died Friday near Lima after a knife he carried slashed his femoral artery while his family caravan to Kalispell stopped to rest. Mike Ferguson, born April 21, 1960, died at Barrett Hospital after being rushed from the scene. He is survived by his parents and seven siblings. The families were hosted in Dillon before continuing their journey.
