A clue surfaced when the cab and two passengers were seen heading west on U S 10 near the Gregson turnoff. Avon Army Specialist 4 George Edden, 19, was killed in action in Vietnam. His parents, Mr and Mrs Robert Patrick of Avon, were notified by the Pentagon. Edden, a Powell County High School graduate, served six months in country with the 135th Battalion of the 4th Infantry Division after training at Fort Bliss and service at Fort Polk.
