The United Nations Security Council voted 10 to 0 with five abstentions to urge Britain to use force if necessary to stop tankers believed to carry oil for Rhodesia. The resolution, aimed at Beira port, seeks to deter shipments via the Beira to Rhodesia oil pipeline and calls on other nations to divert vessels linked to Rhodesian oil.
Buddhist leaders unite to demand civilian rule and an elected congress in a short time, forming the Viet Nam Buddhist Forces to coordinate actions.
