Desperate rescuers in San Marino push a shaft down into an abandoned well to reach three year old Kathy Fiscus trapped inside. A rotary drill advances to about one hundred four feet as Miner Whitey Blickensderfer is lowered into the narrow rescue pit.
Kathy Fiscus a three year old girl fell into an abandoned water well near her home Friday afternoon. Her parents David and Alice Fiscus waited in their car hoping for the best as rescuers worked from two shafts and a pipe to reach her at least 94 feet below the surface. Doctors and family officials expressed cautious optimism while neighbors and friends offered support amid the tense, ongoing effort.
The report covers Andrei Gromyko accusing the west of using Libya and other former Italian colonies as bases for aggression against the Soviet Union. Gus Lyon, five, described how he heard Kathy Fiscus crying from an abandoned weed-covered well after she vanished while playing with siblings near their home. Mrs. Fiscus joined the search as the trio scoured a vacant lot about 300 yards from the house, before rescue efforts began.

The stolen vehicle was abandoned west of the Rainbow Inn after a pursuit along the Butte Anaconda highway. A county attorney plan to question the suspects and others with descriptions is anticipated by Monday.
The Missouri River spilled over thousands of acres of low land between Sioux City Iowa and Nebraska City Neb Saturday with crests at Sioux City and expected at Omaha Monday. He warned Western powers not to count on Yugoslavia’s help in their war plans amid Soviet pressure. The body of John A. Weber 27 formerly in charge of St. Vincent hospital blood bank was recovered from the Yellowstone River Saturday. A physician said Weber had been missing for five weeks and had suffered a prior nervous breakdown. Survivors include his parents in St. Cloud Minnesota.
