UPI reports a US Navy task force recovered the last hydrogen bomb from 2500 feet of water off Palomares Spain ending a weeks long salvage. The 1.1 megaton device was lifted at 7 40 a m local time aboard a task force ship and was undamaged.
In Saigon the seventh day of anti Ky demonstrations escalated as youths roved the streets attacking a captured American and vandalizing property. Skyraiders buzzed the First Corps headquarters as officers denounced Ky, amid fears of a possible civil conflict between Ky loyalists and Gen. Chuan forces.
Viet Cong forces seized a 20 man government outpost 25 miles south of Saigon amid a surge of Saigon area violence. US Army units reported another ambush 20 miles northeast, killing 24. Survivor Le Huang Hao described a mass shooting of chained prisoners, including his wife, near Phu Lam. A Navy photo team documented the mass casualty scene.
A felony charge of second degree assault was filed in justice court against David A. Walsh 65 a Butte carpenter for an alleged attack with an iron bar on Ray Joseph 53 a city truck driver At the city corral 1300 Harrison Joseph was hospitalized after head and ear lacerations Walsh pleaded innocent posted 2500 bond and a preliminary hearing is set April 26

The Army plans to bring about 15 000 highly trained enlisted men home from Europe to help expand U S combat strength. Eu rope strength will fall to about 210 000 by midyear and return to about 225 000 by year end. Returned troops will staff new units and train draftees, with 24 month tours possibly shortened to 21 months.
Stoughton 25 year old Pfc William F Joyce killed at Quan Lai. Records show Joyce used another name Richard J Preskenis to enlist in April 1963. Defense Dept investigates enlistment procedures while Marine Corps corrects records after sister informs Washington.
State senator Gordon McOmber, D Fairfield, told reporters that Montana institutions would improve if Gov Tim Babcock focused on governing rather than criticizing the 1965 legislature. He noted the Warm Springs budget rise and highlighted new and planned upgrades funded by the Democratic legislature.
Mt Holyoke and Smith College students issue a booklet titled Where the Boys Are offering dating advice about American college men. The project parodies Princeton's Where the Girls Are with satirical profiles of Yale Harvard and Columbia and credits Amherst writers J Aaron Latham and Thomas G Plate for the writing.
The Butte Ministerial Association conducts Good Friday services at Mountain View Methodist Church from noon to 3 PM. Worshipers may come and go during interludes as readings reflect six words from the crucifixion and two additional remarks by a youth evangelism leader.
K C Boulter 57 owner and manager of the Grand Hotel in Butte died at 2 a.m. Thursday in Chicago from a heart attack while en route home from a national hotel convention. His body will be brought to Butte Friday and funeral services will be announced. He leaves wife Ruth two sons Robert and David and a large Montana family.
Beaverhead Chamber of Commerce directors at a special meeting voted unanimously to endorse the Reichle Dam project on the Big Hole River north of Dillon. They cited protection of state water rights and overall benefits outweighing drawbacks, with officers and members including Dean Wright and DeMar Taylor among the attendees.
