Downs a Butte Montana native was among the FBI ten most wanted fugitives for burglary at Pacific Telephone in San Jose California. He surrendered with a loaded pistol and seized weapons including rifles dynamite and cash. Lennon killed resisting arrest near Mojave California two days earlier.
