Harley L. Clarke of Chicago, backed by Chase Securities and Pynchon, gains control of major Fox motion picture holdings totaling $300 million. A Michigan alumnus and head of Utilities Power and Light, he oversees properties worth about $400 million in U S and U K cities. The Earl of Birkenhead joins Clarke as English manager. Peter Connolly 1018 Utah Ave Anaconda man died of a heart attack at St. Ann's Hospital following injuries from leaping from a car on the Butte Anaconda highway last Saturday night. His wife Mary O'Hare and passenger Dorothy Klock were treated for injuries. another passenger Peter Cunningham escaped unharmed. The steering gear failure caused the car to crash into a ditch and Connolly reportedly was improving before succumbing to shock-induced heart failure.

In Havre Montana a coroner's jury ruled that Mrs Cora Brown 34 of Minot North Dakota and Thomas F Callaghan 46 a farmer were killed by a gunman unknown. Initial reports suggested Mrs Brown shot Callaghan then took her own life, but later two bullets in Mrs Brown's body led officers to suspect the man may have been the shooter.
Helena April 7 Dexter director of Montana State College was chosen as manager of the campaign for the $3,000,000 bond issue and a three mill state tax levy to be voted at the general election. He will take a leave of absence from the college to lead the drive. The funds would support maintenance and construction at state educational institutions and repairs at other state institutions.
Darby voters kept women in power with Margaret Shockley elected mayor and aldermen Mrs. 8 A Flichtner and Mrs. J P Whyte, plus Miss Gertrude Waldo as treasurer, continuing two years of women leadership. Montana results show light turnout with little opposition in many cities. At Deer Lodge Mrs Elsie Cobb won city treasurer 212 to 25 for a write-in. Other ward results listed.
Five members are returned to city office with Fred Christy winning the Fourth Ward contest. Christy led the vote as residents chose the new councilor, signaling a shift in local leadership. The result affects city policymaking and district representation.
City election results list aldermen by ward with names and vote totals. Ward 1 James Mountain shows unopposed with 192 votes. Ward 2 McAllister 409 and Yattrick 255. Ward 3 Boland 301 and Lyth 107. Christy 428 and Pierce 370. Ward 4 entries show Glenn Myers 257 and Sundberg 568. Jim Woods 430 and Rodman 341.
In yesterday’s city election in Butte the Democrats carried seven of eight wards and routed Republicans. Sundberg’s upset cost Republicans one seat, leaving the council at eleven Democrats to five Republicans. A. L. Pierce, ten-year Republican aide, was defeated in one noted upset.
John E. Mead aged 59 a prominent Wyoming stockman was instantly killed and L C Blackie Wolt in Sie 06 700368 aes injured in a gun battle on the prairie forty miles west of Newcastle Wyoming. The fight stems from a long running range feud tied to cattle and sheep wars.
Louis Lower of Kansas City will attend Montana DeMolay state convention in Billings. As an official of the grand council and a leading member, he will speak at the two day Masonic temple sessions expected to attract more than 500 DeMolay members. He will depart Kansas City today and stop in Billings Thursday night for a Billings Masons dinner before heading to Butte.
