Montana's 23 employment offices will start accepting TEC unemployment claims on Monday. State Unemployment Compensation Commission Chairman Edgar H. Reeder announced the plan after TEC details were finalized. The program targets workers who exhausted benefits after June 30 1960 and those who may exhaust benefits before April 1 1962.
The eighth annual Bishop's Charity Ball will start at 10 PM in the Silver Bow Ballroom at the Finlen Hotel. Ed Bowman's Orchestra will provide music and a program of entertainment. Proceeds go to Catholic Charities, Inc. under Bishop Joseph M. Gilmore, with Msgr. D. B. Harrington directing in Helena. The event funds child placement, needs of unwed mothers, delinquent youth counseling, and includes a St. Vincent De Paul Salvage Bureau project.
Bids for the prime Yellowtail Dam contract on the Crow Indian Reservation will be opened Tuesday in Hardin, marking decades of effort. The $55 million contract funds half the dam project, which will stand 520 feet high and create a 70 mile long reservoir with 200 000 kilowatt capacity. Governor Nutter will attend with invited officials and bidders, as the concrete arch structure aims to finish by October 1966 and deliver irrigation flood control and power benefits.
A 6-year-old boy found seven 1961 license tabs in the Butte County Sheriff office sparking an investigation. Probation Officer John Sheehan said no criminal intent was shown. Tabs held for reclamation include 1-02687 1-06641 1-13703 1-12276 1-T-02390 1-13807 and 1-07316.
Kenneth Barrett appeared in police court charged with speeding and running a red light at Front street and Raw avenue. Judge John Seton rejected an oral appeal notice after Barrett pleaded guilty. Barrett paid $25 fine plus $2.50 for the red light violation. Officers clocked 40 mph by radar. Barrett said he faced rude treatment but the proper complaint route was discussed with city officials. He left intending to file formal complaints.
Army leaders told the Senate committee that the United States will deploy more combat troops to the Pacific and Europe within a year to counter Communist insurgency and guerrilla tactics. General George H. Decker warned that trouble spots can flare into violence overnight and cited Laos Congo and Cuba as examples of Communist intervention. He said expanded U S forces will aid friendly governments by planning training and support to counter insurgencies.
Silver Bow County women march tonight from 5 to 8 p m canvassing Butte and environs to raise funds for the April Cancer Crusade. About 600 volunteers direct by Mrs. Leo Broudy and Mrs. K C Pearson aim to keep 60 percent of funds in Montana for research education and patient services.
Members of seven Montana LWV organizations convene in Butte for the biennial state meeting at the Finlen Hotel continuing through Saturday noon. A Thursday board meeting was held at Mrs. Phoebe Herweg’s home and national board member Mrs. Robert J. Stuart of Spokane will address a Friday luncheon.

Vice President Johnson told SHAPE ceremonies on NATO 10th anniversary that allies must build non nuclear defenses and accept greater U S participation for the foreseeable future He noted a move toward mobile fire brigade forces and urged an integrated European community while signaling openness to NATO nuclear capability under consultation.
