District Ballot Today in School Election in Butte
Voters in 35 precincts cast ballots in the annual School District No 1 election from noon to 8 pm. Candidates are John F. Dahlberg and Robert Petersen for New School Party and James A. Curtin and Harry Robinson for Independent Party. Two proposed levies would raise 52806 for two new Longfellow School classrooms and 26500 for teachers and books. Polling places include Sherman Blaine St Mary Courthouse Washington VFW Hall and Butte High School among others.

Seven of Mexican family killed in Illinois truck wreck
In Bloomington Illinois seven members of a migratory Mexican family died when their truck collided with a northbound tractor and burst into flames. Six others were injured, all from the Mendoza family from McAllen Texas bound for Princeton.

In a head on crash 45 miles west of Casper two Riverton women Pauline Lieuallen 28 and Mildred Armstrong 28 died. A third woman believed to be Dale Griner 30 wife of a soldier was injured and identified under the name Julia Nora. The 27 year old soldier from Ft Leonard Wood on emergency leave to Stites Idaho was in critical condition with head injuries.

Bank Robbers Take $62402 In Flint Holdup
Three or four gunmen robbed the East Side Citizens' Commercial and Savings Bank during lunch hour in Flint Michigan netting $62402. Tellers were forced to lie down and money was stuffed into jackets. An alarm was triggered by teller Dorothy Mette and the getaway car was later found abandoned. Everett Cummings, the bank vice president, confirmed the amount.

Barbara Lyman of Montana was chosen Friday to be queen of Washington’s Cherry Blossom Festival. The selection was made by a wheel spin conducted by Sherman Adams. Barbara, 18, daughter of C. K. Lyman, is a senior at Annandale High School and set to graduate in June. Her father serves in the U. S. Forest Service and has been based in Washington after leading Lolo National Forest in Missoula.
