MacArthur Dies Quietly at 84 in Washington
General of the Army Douglas MacArthur died at 2 39 p m EST at Walter Reed Army Medical Center from kidney and liver failure after three operations. President Johnson ordered flags at half staff worldwide until burial in Norfolk, Virginia, Saturday. His wife Jean and son Arthur 26 were at his side. The body to be moved to New York City for repose at the Seventh Regiment Armory on Tuesday.

Butte Man Slays Wife and Self in Basement Murder
In Butte a 27-year-old wife Mabel Wickman was shot in the head by her husband Edward Wickman 24 in the basement of their East Butte home Sunday. He then killed himself in front of their five children. Aboard, Truman Ekstedt 25 fled as police arrived. Coroner said jealousy triggered the killings. Wickman had threatened earlier and been jailed on assault charges. The couple had lived there four years.

Butte Boy Survives Fall From Denver Hotel Skylight
Richard Gray, 9, of Butte Montana, fell from a third floor ledge at the Erhard Hotel in downtown Denver, crashed through a skylight and landed on packing crates. He was treated at Denver General Hospital in fair condition with a possible back injury. The boy was staying with his mother and five brothers. the fall occurred after he climbed onto a window ledge while his mother was away. A clerk said he remained conscious and called him lucky.
