Moscow reports Soviet Russia and Yugoslavia signed a five year treaty of friendship and non aggression. Vyacheslav Molotov and Milan Gavrilovic signed for their countries in Moscow. The pact commits non aggression and respect for each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The article discusses Hitler delaying a Balkan thrust until Atlantic victories are secured. It notes Greek debarkation ports are within bomber reach from Bulgaria and questions how many British troops remain at Salonika. It cites a possible Nile army redeploying toward Greece as a key factor.

Anaconda elects four incumbents to the district No. 10 board in a high turnout school election. Voters 1,207 of 6,916 registered cast ballots. Hugh Maguire led with 1,089 votes, followed by M. P. Mahoney 1,073, Frank Cole 1,070, J. B. C. Knight 1,018. Four write-in votes were recorded for Mrs. F. M. Adams, 36, Mrs. Amos Felt, 31, Walter Bolkovatz, 6, Mrs. Oliver Smith, 4.
William S. Knudsen declared that 90 percent of strikes must be eliminated to protect the defense program. He proposed supervising all strike votes by the Labor department and requiring a minimum interval before effective dates to allow conciliation and mediation. He argued that legislation is not necessary but a definite procedure is needed to keep plants running during the emergency. He cited strikes at Lackawanna International Bethlehem Johnston and Ford as efforts to speed union organization and noted the Allis-Chalmers case shows radical leaders influence.
A new serial titled Honeymoon Gold debuts today in the Montana Standard set on an island involved in smuggling. The heroine, who contemplates suicide, accepts a marriage proposal to secure a caretaker role for the island, driving a fast paced romance with a mystery of a main slain. Written by Peggy Dern, the first installment appears in the society section.
Carl Joachim Hambro president of Norway’s parliament and the League of Nations assembly will speak at Butte high school auditorium on May 13 at 8 pm. Admission will help cover expenses and Norwegian war relief while delegations from Montana Norse-Americans are expected.
Berlin radios broadcast Hitler's order to move troops into the Balkans. The proclamation claimed Greece and Yugoslavia are targets of retaliation while defending German nationals. Goebbels read the speech as Churchill and Britain are blamed for the war and the Belgrade government is denounced. The message stresses German resolve and strategic aims in the southeast.
Campaign ends as 18 476 electors prepare to vote tomorrow in 16 precincts. Polls run 8 am to 6 pm with voting machines in use. Key races include mayor between Cliff Crowley and Charles Hauswirth, plus Patrick King. Treasurer nominees are Bernard Holland and Elmer Binder. Police judge contenders are Louis Buckley and J P Moore.
