Corporation license tax ruled effective for 1932 in Montana
Helena April 5. The corporation license tax law enacted by the last legislature is retroactive and raises the 1932 taxable rate to two percent of net income, with a minimum tax of five dollars for those under two hundred fifty dollars net income. Attorney General Nagle advised the board of equalization to apply the retroactive provisions to 1932 returns. He also ruled unconstitutional the 7 percent levy on agricultural products in storage and livestock held for slaughter and sold before April 15, and directed continuation of the 331 3 percent true value levy, warning the law discriminates against livestock and certain agricultural products.
