In Alliance Nebraska a large Maltese cat suffocated a 5 month old baby boy of rancher Charles M Racek. The cat leaped from the cradle as the parents entered the bedroom. The incident occurred about 25 miles north of Alliance. The report is from United Press.

The Metals Bank and Trust company installed Montana’s third overnight depository in the lobby of its metals building bank, opposite the elevator. Melvin Reeves six year old missing since March 12 snowstorm is found by a neighbor four miles south of the Reeves ranch in Gordon Nebraska. A high school pupil posse helped search while hundreds of men and 200 Indians from Pine Ridge participated amid ten feet of snow in ravines and canyons.
Helena April 4 The attorney general ruled that Montana cannot authorize building residence halls at state institutions due to existing debt limits and the need for voter approval. The act’s title misstates its effect and cannot bind the state to incur debt without election authorization. The State University at Missoula was authorized to erect a new hall under the act.
The Louisiana house opened another impeachment session examining $6,000 in state funds Long drew from a Baton Rouge bank in $20 bills for a New Orleans conference. Witnesses alleged improper use and a lack of accounting while supporters rallied in Baton Rouge as Huey P. Long prepared a public defense.

Three roughly dressed bandits stormed the Continental Oil filling station at Montana and Silver streets last night and forced the attendant into the wash room. They escaped with about $50 from the cash register after displaying small caliber automatics. The description matches that of the trio who robbed Montana Confectionary at 83 East Park Street earlier in the week.
In Scott City Kansas a monoplane owned by Bert Schmidt of Hutchinson crashed after takeoff while three aboard died in the post crash fire. Pilot John Flournoy of Wichita and passengers Dr. C. McGinnis and Cheeter A. Riley, both of Scott City, perished when the craft plunged and burned after the ascent.
Washington April 4 The senate and house agriculture committees near the end of nine years of hearings on farm relief. Chairman McNary hopes to hear the last witness by tomorrow and Chairman Haugen aims for a similar deadline. With hearings over, they will draft the new bill closely following last fall’s McNary measure as outlined by Secretary Hyde.
Voters in school district No. 1 go to the polls Saturday to elect three trustees for three years and one for two years. Polls open at 8 a.m. and close for a one hour noon break, then reopen 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Women’s ticket lists J. D. Wallace J. L. Dorsh and Mrs. Guy Sheridan. Wallace and Dorsh seek three year terms while Mrs. Sheridan runs for a two year term. The Independent ticket is also represented.
Five San Francisco rum-runners received the first sentences under the Jones law in federal court here in Sacramento California. Each was sentenced to fifteen months in federal prison and fined a total of three thousand dollars. Frank Wilson and James Sanchez pleaded guilty. Ferris Marino Piney were tried with a machine gun in the accompanying car.
The Federal Reserve Board named member banks that may face action if they do not voluntarily curb speculative use of credit. It stressed protecting gold reserves, aiming to curb wasteful absorption and prevent an unduly expanded domestic credit structure while noting rising money rates. The board reiterated its February appeal for cooperation among reserve banks and member banks to maintain orderly credit conditions.
Two thousand New Jersey citizens spanning industry, politics, and civic groups dined in six cities and heard Ambassador Dwight W. Morrow deliver a Mexican City address via telephone and radio. Wires fed Newark Atlantic City and Camden broadcasts from the new state telephone HQ.
Silver Bow county treasurer distributed 120 875.25 in school funds among nine districts under county superintendent Agnes Meade Hanratty. The largest item, 115 170.31, was state school fund interest. District 1 receives 112 691.18, enabling February warrants. Other allocations include 243.95 from district court fines, 3 713.42 from six mill levy, and 1 747.58 from three mill high school levy for Butte high school.
