Art J. Baker 30, coordinator at the Montana Alcoholism Services Center at Warm Springs State Hospital, resigns effective May 1 to become associate director of Guest House Sanitarium at Lake Orion. Father-in-law held in death of Billings man
Lupe Valdez died in a Billings hospital from a gunshot to the head after an argument with his father-in-law Tony Deaguera. Deaguera admitted the shooting saying it was in self defense. The incident occurred at Deaguera's southeast Billings home over a fire insurance settlement, with multiple witnesses including Deaguera's 14 year old daughter.

Norman Hamill Mining City Architect Dies at 59
Norman J. Hamill of 58 West Quartz Avenue, a renowned Northwest architect, died Saturday in Butte at age 59. Born April 22, 1906 in New Rochelle, N.Y., he studied at Holy Rosary High in Bozeman and Montana State University, later working on Fort Peck Dam and as a government construction engineer in Helena.

Great Falls Man Killed in Usc 91 Crash Near Ulm
A Great Falls man identified as Car Fry died in a car truck crash Saturday night on U.S. 91 about 11 miles west of Great Falls near Ulm. No other details were released. The death marked Cascade County’s fifth this year and raised Montana’s total to 55, up from 53 a year ago.

Babcock calls for audit of Centennial Train funds

Beaverhead County District 10 voters declined to reelect incumbents Robert Harrison and Lloyd Dougherty but elected Theodore Hazelbaker and John Garry to three year terms.
