A fierce tornado struck Milton Florida killing 15 people and injuring at least 79. About 200 homes were demolished or damaged leaving 800 homeless as continued storms lashed the Southeast. Gov Bryant sent 100 National Guardsmen and Whiting Field offered shelter for the displaced.

Butte Rodeo Returns Outdoors First Since 1953
The Vigilante Rodeo and Saddle Club will stage the Wildest Show on Earth outdoors June 28 to 30 at the rodeo grounds off Harrison Avenue. It is the first outdoor Rodeo here since 1953 at the Civic Center. About $30,000 will go to facilities including 4000 new steel bleacher seats and floodlighting. Oral Zumwalt supplies stock. Cahill Mooney Co. handles construction starting next month.

Headon Collision Hurts 3 Butte Youths on Texas Avenue Bridge
Three Butte youths sustained injuries in a head-on collision on the Texas Avenue Bridge Saturday. Jack Walsh, 19, of Locust Street, remained hospitalized at St. James in observation after the crash. Martin White, 20, and Albert Lovshin, 18, were treated and released for head lacerations and an arm abrasion respectively.

The United States and Russia reported some progress on reducing tensions at the 17 nation disarmament conference. No firm priority list was agreed after the second meeting in two days between Arthur H. Dean and Valerian Zorin. The co chairmen planned another session to refine an agenda for the committee of the whole alongside the full conference. MSC Debaters Win At Montana Forensics Meet
Montana State College debaters captured overall honors at the Montana Intercollegiate Forensics Meet hosted by Montana School of Mines. A MSC team of Jack Dunn and Don Wolfe won the championship against Phil Hamilton and Bill White of MSC. Eastern Montana College of Education placed third with Vic Thuesen and Arlene Wheeler. Other schools included Western Montana College of Education, Rocky Mountain College and Carroll College.

Wreck Near Lewistown Claims Airman Life
A 17 year old Airman 3 C Donald Leon Jackson of Powell Wyoming died after a one car crash on Highway 19, 69 miles north of Lewistown. His car crossed the highway struck a traffic counter and spun 100 feet after impact. He was en route to a local hospital and died at the scene or soon after. This is Fergus County’s first highway death of the year and Montana’s toll rose to 39.
