It notes a graveyard of memories, a perilous river voyage past Dry Gulch, Indian attacks leaving several dead or wounded, and a Helena county posting on mining and local threats. It ends with a local theft report from a Main Street store.
Heven June 13 1865 The pilevims are coming and a few have already arrived. Mr Simeon Estes brought the first four boats up the river to town last Friday. While returning from Benton he was chased by five Indians and narrowly escaped as his team r aned to a steep descent. With six or seven men they faced the pursuers and forced them to retreat. Freight and flour are arriving and freighters warn of Indians near Sun River after a recent skirmish. Cattle losses occur from a hole trapping yokes in Chance district. two died, one shot, one horn broken. The Yellow stone and Deer Lodge were at the landing as he left.
