Wandering Jew Vangal Simons Linked to Union County Roots
A long Union County family history traces back to Vangal Simons, a Dutch wanderer who settled near Monroe and produced a line of descendants across Doster, Dillon, and Belk families. The article recounts intermarriages, notable names, and the county’s early Jewish presence dating to the 1800s, including ties to local justice and land deeds.
