Ed Helms Reports Texas City Storm Casualties and Wreckage

Ed Helms of Tex as City Texas sent views of the wreckage from the mid August storm that struck Texas City Galveston and nearby areas. He notes sixteen soldiers were killed when a building collapsed and he avoided injury by taking refuge in a passenger car. The letter urges community growth and support.

Revival Meetings Close at Henley School House

Revival meetings at Henley School House ended last Saturday with ten conversions for the Baptist church and nine for the Methodist church. Evangelist Phillips led services at Sardis church on Sunday, yielding 31 new occasions. Twenty three persons are to be baptized at the Homby bridge next Sunday morning at nine thirty.

Prohibition Wins in South Carolina State Referendum

South Carolina adopted statewide prohibition with votes totaling 23 104 for and 14 157 against as unofficial returns from numerous counties arrived late. Governor Manning pledged to enforce the law, and all 30 dry counties voted for prohibition while Charleston reportedly opposed it. Columbia supported prohibition.

Colonel Crowell Honored For A Life Of Faith And Service
