Armfield dies after long illness in Monroe region
Ol and highly esteemed citizen Mr E A Armfield died Saturday morning September 4 after a lengthy illness. He was born September 28, 1890, lived much of his life in Sandy Ridge and Monroe, and served as clerk of the Superior Court. He was the first cashier of the Peoples Bank and part of Armfield & Laney leather firm. He leaves a wife and several children, with a long record of public service and temperate, devout life. The funeral was held at his residence with Rev J C Rowe officiating.
