Alexander Citizen Ends Life by Self Strangulation
Nathan Bentley a 75 year old resident of Barret mountain in Alexander county disappeared from home. His body was found away from his house with a hickory switch tied to his neck and a tree. He apparently tied himself and pulled back until he strangled himself, a fatal act. The New York World notes the event as a misguided attempt to spur American foreign trade.
