Goose Creek Citizen Nearly Killed Stopping Runaway Wagon
Mr G A Long of Goose Creek township was seriously wounded while stopping a runaway wagon that endangered his two children. The mules broke loose, trampled him, dragged him, and caused deep gashes a broken shoulder and eye injuries. Bystanders feared he had died, but the children escaped unharmed. Recovery may be difficult due to the extent of injuries.

After the ceremony they traveled to Washington then to Lanes Creek to visit Cox’s mother, and plan to settle in Juneau where Cox is a telegrapher for the Southern. Mrs. Cox is noted as a popular local lady and Cox is described as a leading young man in Union County.
