County Fair Premiums and Exhibit Rules for Union County

The fourth annual Union County Fair in Monroe will be held November 18 and 19. Premiums for corn wheat hay Irish potatoes sweet potatoes and live stock are listed with first second and third prizes. Boys and men compete for ten ears and three stalks, judging criteria include prolificacy ear type and stalk strength. The Woman's Department is encouraged and a full premium list will follow.

Government Sees Cotton Crop At 10 Million Bales This Year

Government reports the 1914 cotton production estimate at 10,050,000 bales based on ginners’ reports and crop conditions. Census tallies show 2,000,007 bales ginned before Sept 25, with declines due to weather, drought, and boll weevil activity.
